There was a sudden fire at home and I called the fire department immediately.
But I heard the sound of the fire truck but couldn’t wait for it.
I followed the sound and found that the firefighters were putting out the fire in an abandoned hut.
My husband, who couldn’t be contacted, was standing by to comfort the frightened Rowena.
Looking at the smug face of the Rowena, I soon realized that she did it on purpose!
I didn’t want to care and just wanted to take the firefighters away and said that my mother was still in the fire scene.
But my husband held me tightly and didn’t allow me to talk to the firefighters and said angrily, “Enough! There should be a limit to fighting for favor. If Rowena says fire, you also say fire! You even cursed your own mother, how can you be so disgusting!”
I just felt cold all over, but the firefighters believed me and sent a large part of them to put out the fire at home.
Facing the burnt figure in the ambulance, my husband felt a little guilty and said embarrassedly, “Wait until your mother is better. I will apologize to her.”
But I shook my head.
“My mom is fine, you should apologize to your mom!”
I clearly heard the siren of the fire truck, but I didn’t see the shadow of the fire truck. Seeing the fire in the old house getting bigger and bigger and the cries for help in the house getting smaller and smaller, I was so anxious that I couldn’t bear it anymore and went to find the fire truck.
When I ran to the entrance of the village, I found that the fire truck had indeed arrived.
The reason why the fire truck didn’t go to my house to put out the fire was that they were putting out a fire in an old house that had been uninhabited for many years.
Among the villagers watching on the side, the two people standing in the most conspicuous place were my husband, Hadwin, who had never answered the phone and his unclear childhood sweetheart, Rowena.
I rushed forward in anger, but Hadwin didn’t notice my approach. Instead, he still hugged Rowena and comforted her softly, “Rowena, don’t worry. No one lives in this house and you called the fire department not long after the fire broke out. Don’t be afraid.”
Rowena glanced at me inconspicuously, threw herself into Hadwin’s arms, with a smug look in her eyes and eyebrows. I quickly realized that she knew that my house was on fire!
She sobbed pretentiously, “But you just heard that the neighbors said that there will be many stray cats living here. What if the stray cats are still in there? That’s a life and what if the fire spreads and burns other things?”
Hadwin felt distressed again when he heard this. He comforted Rowena and sighed at Rowena’s words.
Hearing this, I couldn’t hold back any longer, rushed up and fiercely separated the two and then slapped Hadwin heavily. “Are you a crazy? Why didn’t you answer my call? Do you know that our family…”
But before I finished speaking, I was interrupted by Rowena. She pulled my hand and explained anxiously, “Hadwin didn’t mean to miss the call. I was too scared just now. Hadwin missed the call to comfort me.”
I had seen Rowena’s skills a long time ago, not to mention that the house was still on fire at the moment. Of course, I didn’t have the leisure to argue with her here. I reached out and wanted to pull Li Hadwin home.
Rowena looked at the five fingers on Hadwin’s face with heartache, protected Hadwin and continued, “If you are angry, hit me. Don’t hit Hadwin. This is all my fault.”
I was about to say something, but I felt a tingling pain in the palm of my hand. I looked down and found that Rowena wasn’t trying to stop the fight, but in fact, she was using her long nails to scratch my palm desperately!
