He Ruined Me, Now I'm His Punishment

"I spent so much time and effort renovating this house the way you wanted, yet you don't cherish it at all. You've disappointed me too much."

After saying that, he slapped himself several times straight in the face. Then, he squatted down and hugged me, crying. "Ella, I didn't mean to hit you. From now on, I'll only be with you. It'll be soon. Can you wait for me a little longer?"

From then on, I became very sensible, neither crying nor making a fuss. Before, every time he went to be with Zoey, I would make over a dozen calls urging him to come back. Now, I quietly waited for him to come home. Once, Justice felt guilty and wanted to explain to me. I patted his shoulder and said, "I know Zoey is very weak now and needs your company. I understand."

My mother also stopped blaming me and even specially made soup for me for the first time. Although I was so sick that I couldn't eat anything, I happily wanted to drink it all. However, when I opened it, I found it was chicken soup, my sister's favourite. Unfortunately, I was allergic to chicken. My mother frowned and snapped, "Why aren't you eating it? What, you don't like how I made it? Fine. I won't bother next time."

So, I forced a smile and ate every last drop. That night, my throat swelled up and I couldn't breathe. I was rushed to the hospital. Justice was busy helping Zoey film her scenes, but he spent whatever time he had left with me. We planted flowers, had meals and watched TV together at home.

Once, we were watching an interview with Zoey. The reporter asked her, "What's your ideal type?"

She looked straight at Justice and said, "Someone just like him."

His ears flushed red instantly. I turned to look at him and stared for a long time. Then, I whispered, "You know … it's okay if you want to marry my sister."

Justice suddenly kissed me fiercely. "I don't want anyone else. I only want you. Ever since you donated a kidney to me and gave me a warm home, I will never let you down in this lifetime."

Despite my resistance, he pressed close to me. He was lost in the moment, but all I could do was stare at the empty space where my legs used to be. The ceiling light swayed gently above us, casting shadows that flickered like ghosts and each swing reminded me of his betrayal.

Lately, Justice had been sticking to me like glue. He not only accompanied me to the bathroom and cooked for me but also took me to the mall to buy gifts and choose a wedding dress. Halfway through shopping, Justice received a call that seemed very urgent. I considerately told him to go ahead and take care of it.

By afternoon, I was a little tired and wanted to go to the hotel upstairs in the mall to rest. We had a long-term suite in the hotel. It used to be our secret hideout when we were secretly married. Every time we avoided the paparazzi, we would be passionately entangled up there. As soon as I opened the door, Zoey's voice came from inside.

Zoey wrapped her arms around Justice's neck, leaned close and said, "I want to give you a child."

Justice's voice was cold and clear. "No need, Ella and I will have children."

My heart was pierced. Justice clearly knew that my uterus had been perforated and removed to save my life in that accident. Zoey was trying to win him over and Justice was avoiding her, but they slowly became intensely entangled. He made the most ruthless love with her while saying the most affectionate words to me.

My throat burned with the need to vomit, but nothing came up. I whimpered, not daring to make a sound. I silently closed the door and waited outside. I wanted to question Justice why he betrayed me. I also wanted to punish Justice, to make him feel guilty when he saw me after coming out.

I waited silently all night while memories of our loving and intimate moments kept replaying in my mind. Moreover, a dull pain throbbed in my upper stomach the whole night, refusing to go away.

The following day, everything suddenly felt meaningless. It was like I could see Death standing right behind me, urging me to hurry up. I went home, packed up all my belongings and set them on fire. Somehow, news of me sitting outside a hotel room all night got posted online. Coincidentally, my mother saw it. She called Justice, questioning him sternly. "Is this what you meant by promising to love Ella? Leaving her to sit outside a hotel room all night?"

Justice panicked. By the time he rushed back to the villa, ambulances, fire trucks and police cars were already there. The house was full of people. He pushed his way through the crowd, but a doctor quickly stopped him. "Are you a family member of Miss Daniella Lacroix? Please sign here. The patient is already ... "
