Nicole met that gentle,beautiful face and suddenly felt a sharp,stabbing pain in her head.She screamed in terror.
She curled up on the ground,her face pale as paper.She stared at Britney,repeating,“Don’t come over here!Don’t come over here!”
Everything seemed to go back to three years ago,when Britney had her committed to a mental hospital and injected her with drugs.
Britney smiled and raised her hand to pat Nicole’s cheek.“Nicole,I’ve found several men for you,all of them suffering from syphilis.”
She moved slowly and pointed the camera at her,her smile harmless.“What do you think John would do to you if he saw you fooling around with men?”
To this day,the fear she felt back then was still vivid in her mind,filling her with immense fear whenever she saw her.
John sneered,yanking her hair out and forcing her to look up.“Nicole,weren’t you fierce and ruthless three years ago?Why are you pretending now?”
But when he saw those dark,lightless eyes,he stopped,unable to utter a single word.
Britney was clutching the child,tears welled up in her eyes.“I’m sorry,Nicole has never liked me.I shouldn’t have been here today.”
With those words,the complex emotions that surged within John vanished in an instant.
He sneered and let go of her hand,staring at Nicole and saying word by word,“From today on,if you’re dissatisfied with Britney in any way,go back to your mental hospital.”
Nicole trembled uncontrollably at the word“mental hospital.”
John didn’t bother to pay attention.He focused his attention on the child in Britney’s arms.His once icy expression softened upon seeing the child.
He got in the car and played with the child,his face full of doting.Nicole huddled in a corner,watching the happy family of three,a sharp pain piercing her chest.
So,what the reporter had said about their child was true.She and John had once had a child,but the child had been thrown to death shortly after birth.
Because of Britney,she had been tortured and humiliated for three years,suffering in prison,while Britney,the culprit,lived a happy life.
Hate overwhelmed her fear and she desperately wanted to tell John the truth.But in the end,she uttered no words because she knew he wouldn’t believe her.Only evidence could prove her innocence.
The car quickly arrived at the Griffith Family villa.Everything was just as she had left,except that the servants looked at her with disdain.
After watching Britney go inside,Nicole was about to get out of the car when John suddenly grabbed her neck.His tone was almost stern.
“Nicole,I know you hate Britney.Three years ago,you caused her to be cyberbullied.If it weren’t for Britney’s plea,I wouldn’t have let you out this time.So if you dare do anything to Britney and the child,don’t blame me to do something horrible to you!”
With that,he shoved her aside and strode into the hall,leaving Nicole alone.
Her eyes were sore,her tears long dried.As she watched his back,she felt no more hope.The next second,she pulled out her phone and called John’s mother.
“Mom,three years ago,you said you’d help me leave.Does that still count?”
