Miles' eyes lit up when he saw the woman he had been pining for.
Lost in the waves of applause, Camila began to feel a sense of triumph.
"Miss Guzmán, I heard you're the manager of the company. Is that right?" someone asked.
Before I could speak, Miles beside me hurriedly explained.
"No, she's been fired. You're the new manager now," he told Camila.
Then, he actually kissed Camila in front of me.
Watching that, whatever little affection I had left for my ex completely vanished.
Camila played along perfectly, immediately wrapping her arms around Miles' neck.
She raised an eyebrow at me, a smug look plastered across her face.
"A woman will never amount to anything by relying on a man, you know?"
I squinted, a cold smile playing on my lips.
"So, Miss Jacobs, are you implying you're more capable than me?"
Camila's face lit up with a broad, victorious smile as she saw me step into her trap purposefully.
"Well, duh!"
"I was the one who secured the Brynton order for the company while all you can do is use your body to please men," she sneered.
"Keeping someone like you around is just a waste of company resources."
I slowly extended my index finger and wagged it a few times at her.
"No, no, no. I don't think Miss Jacobs is right at all."
Seeing me still being stubborn, Camila grew a little irritated.
"What's wrong then?"
"You can't possibly think the company can't function without you, can you?"
I gave her a slight smile, then nodded emphatically.
"Miss Jacobs is absolutely right."
"If I weren't at the company, none of you would have been able to secure that Brynton order."
The moment the words left my lips, the office erupted in chaos.
The surrounding jeers and mockery grew louder, but I couldn't care less.
Because it wouldn't be long before everyone here witnessed the bankruptcy of the Sawyer Enterprise.
As the person involved, Camila took out her mobile phone in front of everyone.
"Hello, Mr. Barnes. This is Camila. We've already prepared the contract. When would be a convenient time for you to come over?"
A familiar voice came through the phone.
"No problem. Your company is in Solbridge, right? Perfect, I'll come by and see an old friend."
As soon as he finished speaking, Camila jumped up excitedly.
"Okay, I'll send someone to pick you up immediately."
Before Camila could finish, the following words from the phone stunned everyone present.
"No need, I'm already downstairs."
