Framed for a Crime That Ruined My Life

Lisa's pupils dilated in shock, disbelief written all over her face.

"You said you were home alone. How could you have witnessed anything? Besides you, who else has the key to this car? Do you think the judge will believe your confession?" Adam demanded, his voice growing louder, his anger palpable as though he wanted to tear Lisa apart.

One year later, after four years of love, they were supposed to get married next month.

This was the first time Lisa had seen Adam lose control of his emotions. Her heart felt as though it had been pierced with a sharp blade, her very flesh and blood blurring with pain.

He doesn’t believe her?

How could he not believe her?

Lisa couldn’t even bring herself to kill a fish, so how could he think she was capable of taking someone’s life?

Just then, her phone rang.

Adam quickly answered, muttering "Hmm" twice before hanging up. When he turned back to Lisa, his eyes were cold, almost predatory.

"If anything happens to Emilie, I’ll make sure you suffer ten times as much!" he spat.

"Adam, please, listen to me!" Lisa pleaded.

But no matter how she tried to explain, Adam drove away without looking back.

She returned to the apartment in a daze, sinking onto the sofa and sitting there all night, unable to escape the torment in her mind.

At dawn, Lisa's best friend, Audrey Banks, called.

"Lisa, have you seen today's trending news? That bitch, Emilie, was in a car accident yesterday and fractured her right leg. I heard she won't be able to dance again. Looks like evil people get what they deserve!" Audrey gloated from the other end of the line.

Emilie was Adam's childhood sweetheart and the principal of the Victoria Dance Company.

Five years ago, she disappeared without a word, leaving for a career abroad. Those had been the darkest days of Adam's career. He was nearly blacklisted from the industry after a miscarriage of justice in a case. It was Lisa who had stood by him, caring for him and helping him rebuild his confidence.

After a year of pursuing her, Lisa finally became his girlfriend.

Lisa dedicated herself completely to Adam, managing his day-to-day life so he could focus entirely on his career without distraction.

Since then, Adam’s career soared. He gained widespread recognition for winning a difficult cross-border lawsuit.

Their relationship quickly deepened, and they soon moved in together. After the Spring Festival, Adam became the youngest senior partner at his law firm and proposed to Lisa.

After four years of love, the couple was naturally moving towards marriage. Both families were thrilled with the relationship, and their wedding was scheduled for just a month away. However, something unexpected happened that disrupted everything.

Lisa tried to suppress the grief in her heart. "Audrey, the car that Adam gave me showed up at the scene of the crime and hit Emilie... and now he suspects it was me!"

"How could it possibly be you? Have you checked the surveillance footage?" Audrey asked, her voice filled with disbelief.

Lisa closed her eyes in despair. "I checked, but I couldn't find a clear shot of the driver's face."

"Unbelievable! You couldn't even get a clear picture of the driver, and he’s still blaming you? Is he out of his mind?" Audrey said angrily. "Don’t worry, I’ll have someone investigate this right away. And by the way, Adam shouldn’t be with that bitch in the hospital now, right? She’s an expert at playing the victim, so watch out—she might steal Adam from you!"

Lisa's voice was distant as she replied, "I... I might as well die before that happens."

The most urgent task was to figure out the truth behind everything. After hanging up, Lisa opened her phone, only to be bombarded with news about Emilie’s car accident.

Although the license plate number had been obscured, Lisa instantly recognized the Mercedes-Benz with the plate number Nan A0926.
