Cleveland Hospital, Office.
Ivy Reid looked at the busy director and said slowly, “Director, please give me an application form for aid to Africa.”
She went straight to the point and took the application form under the director's surprised look.
After seeing the form clearly in Ivy's list, the director realized what was happening belatedly and grabbed her hand, his face full of confusion.
“Ivy, you are going to get married to Ezekiel in a month and the time schedule of the aid mission in Africa conflicts with your wedding. Why are you applying for this now?”
That was the goal, she took it because of the time conflict. Since she was not going to get married anyway.
Ivy's thoughts slowly drifted away, as if she had returned to the night three days ago.
Just as she was in a daze, someone quietly pushed open the office door and reached out to rub her head.
The person who came was the Ezekiel mentioned by the director, Ezekiel Cruz.
Ivy looked back and stuffed the application form in her hand into the pocket of her white coat.
The moment their eyes met, she saw Ezekiel's eyes light up and the love and doting in his eyes almost overflowed.
“Ivy, why are you here to see the director so early in the morning?”
Ezekiel did not notice the subtle atmosphere between Ivy and the director and said lovingly, “Why are you in such a hurry? You can't forget to eat if your stomach is not good, do you know?”
As he spoke, Ivy nodded her head helplessly and like a magic trick, he slowly took out a bag of pineapple cakes from his coat pocket.
Subconsciously, Ivy's eyes fell on his hands.
The pineapple pastry from Lemon Bakery had a fragrant aroma of freshly baked bread and the browned and crispy crust was even more tempting.
The nearest Lemon Bakery was an hour and a half drive from Ezekiel’s home.
As we were talking, many colleagues were attracted by the aroma of bread.
They all looked at Ivy and Ezekiel with teasing smiles on their faces.
“Hey, Doctor Cruz from the Orthopedics Department is here to feed our Doctor Reid again?”
“Didn't Doctor Cruz just finish an operation at 3 a.m.? So, it means Doctor Cruz stayed up all night to buy this bread for Doctor Reid?”
“I've heard that Doctor Reid and Doctor Cruz are the model couple of our hospital. Now it seems that it's not an exaggeration at all.”
They talked about it one after another, with a hint of envy in their eyes and winked at Ivy, asking her to express her feelings.
But as one of the protagonists of their discussion, Ivy did not feel the slightest bit of emotion in her heart and the corners of her mouth twitched.
The crowd was crowded and she saw a beautiful figure standing sideways not far away.
The man was also holding the Lemon Bakery's unique packaging bag in his hand.
You had to queue up for two hours to buy the taro and coconut milk jelly inside.
In a moment of distraction, the man disappeared.
Seeing that Ivy did not say anything, Ezekiel did not think much about it. He just thought she was shy and dismissed the crowd of onlookers for her.
Sitting in the office chair, Ivy watched Ezekiel running around for her.
In front of her was a steaming pineapple pastry, in her hand was a cup of warm tea that Ezekiel had just poured. Even the carrot pillow on the back of her office chair was bought by him.
After finishing everything, Ezekiel pulled a chair and sat down opposite her, holding his cheeks with his hands and staring at Ivy's little face with a gentle smile.
“Ivy, try this bread. If it tastes good, I will buy it for you every day.”
Hearing that, Ivy blinked, but her hand did not reach out for the pineapple pastry.
She no longer liked eating pineapples.
But before she could shake her head to refuse, Ezekiel's cell phone rang.
