No matter who Captain Gray asked, the answer was the same: no one had ever seen my social media posts.
They were even more convinced I didn't have a boyfriend at all.
But I saw it—after I posted those photos, they'd commented one by one, leaving their congratulations beneath every picture!
What the hell was going on?
While my mind reeled, passengers around me started complaining:
"Clearly she's got something wrong with her head. Made up a boyfriend who doesn't exist, then caused a scene on the plane."
"Exactly. Her own parents and friends just admitted she doesn't have a boyfriend and never saw any photos. How does she have the nerve to scream about finding him?"
"What rotten luck. It's New Year's, I'm trying to get home, and instead I'm stuck with some lunatic who's completely derailed my trip."
"Just lock her up in a psychiatric hospital already. Stop letting her out to torment people."
The cabin buzzed with grievances.
Captain Gray shook his head, exasperated, then gave the order:
"Take her for a psychiatric evaluation."
Two officers stepped forward immediately, flanking me on either side, ready to haul me away.
As they dragged me forward, despair crashed over me.
Was it all really in my head?
Did Mervyn... truly not exist?
Just as doubt began to consume me, Stuart Finch's voice cut through—urgent, directed at Cecily:
"Miss, when will the plane take off again?"
"I'm a doctor. There's an emergency surgery waiting for me across state lines. I can't afford any more delays!"
The words hit me like lightning.
I wrenched free from the officers' grip and seized Stuart's hand, holding on for dear life:
"What did you just say? You're a doctor?"
Stuart looked startled. "Yes... why?"
So that's it.
My voice rose, electric with certainty:
"I know where my boyfriend is!"
