“What are you talking about? I don’t understand. I won this award fairly. Why should I give it to Sylvia?”
Tami forced herself to ask back, but her eyes darted nervously toward Calvin.
Calvin immediately stepped forward, exuding the aura of a CEO.
“I am Calvin Weber from Weber Group, Sylvia Carpenter is my wife and I can prove that Sylvia has no design talent whatsoever. I believe there must be some misunderstanding here.”
“Right! Have you been deceived by Sylvia? This is not the first or second time she has tried to embarrass me,” Tami chimed in.
The two assumed that by revealing their identities, the other party would hesitate.
But to their surprise, the leader scoffed, “So that’s how it is. It seems the rumors online were indeed true.”
“This is the authorization transfer statement signed by Miss Carpenter herself. There are 99 copies in total and each copy corresponds to Ms. Frost's 99 award-winning works.”
“She provided sufficient evidence to prove that everything was her own work. It spent one billion to secure all the authorizations.”
For a moment, everyone’s minds were filled with the words ‘one billion.’
“One billion! Sylvia actually took one billion?”
“I can't tell who copied whom anymore. As her husband, Mr. Weber wouldn’t lie, but no one would spend that much money to buy a fake authorization.”
The scene grew chaotic, with some curious onlookers pulling out their phones to check online.
“Ah, so that’s how it is. No wonder Mr. Weber, who is not even related to her, went out of his way to help her.”
“So, they're playing around like this. Hmm, I never would have guessed.”
Seeing the situation was getting out of hand, Calvin snatched someone else's phone, opened it and the phone slipped out of his hand instantly.
He murmured in disbelief, “How could she see these? I locked them all in the box.”
Hearing this, everyone present understood. The information online should be true.
Seeing this, Tami's face darkened. She grabbed Calvin's hand urgently and said, “Calvin, shut up! Tell them that Sylvia copied all of this from me! Hurry up!”
But Calvin seemed oblivious. He took out his phone and frantically called me over and over again.
“Answer the phone, Sylvia! Let me explain!”
The only response was the mechanical voice of customer service.
“Sorry, the number you dialed is turned off!”
With each repetition, the madness in his eyes grew, until finally, he slammed the phone on the ground and started to walk out.
Tami tried to stop him, but he pushed her away harshly.
“Calvin, you can't leave me here alone. I need you.”
Calvin’s eyes were cold as he spoke.
