Came Back Hotter With The Heir's Love

The word "father" landed like a bomb in the silent ballroom. The music faltered and died.

Every guest's gaze darted between the stunning woman in the trench coat, the pale-faced Herman Rich, and the bride, Dolores, whose perfect smile had frozen on her face. The air crackled with the intoxicating scent of scandal.

Herman's body trembled. "You're lying!" he roared, his voice cracking. He pointed a shaking finger at Adria. "Who are you? I don't know you! Security, get this crazy woman out of here!"

Caroline Rich snapped out of her shock, immediately playing the victim. She rushed to her husband's side, her voice a shrill cry. "Oh my god, who sent you? Are you trying to ruin my Dolores's wedding?"

Dolores's face had turned a blotchy, furious red. She glared at Adria with pure hatred, a look that could kill.

Adria ignored their hysterics. Her gaze shifted, moving past them to the man standing on the altar, the man who had remained impassive through it all: the groom, Hudson Davenport.

For the first time, a flicker of something—curiosity, perhaps—disturbed the cold stillness of Hudson's dark gray eyes. His gaze wasn't dismissive, but sharp and assessing, as if he were evaluating an unforeseen variable in a complex equation.

Adria met his gaze and started walking again, moving toward the altar. Her presence was so commanding that the security guards who had started to approach her instinctively stopped in their tracks.

She ascended the steps and stood directly between Dolores and Hudson, a physical barrier separating the would-be couple.

From the inner pocket of her trench coat, she produced a document. It was slightly yellowed with age but perfectly preserved. She held it up for all to see, her voice cool and steady. "I'm not here to cause trouble."

She paused, her eyes sweeping over Dolores with cold disdain. "I'm just here to take back what's mine." Another pause, longer this time. "Including this wedding... and the groom."

The hall erupted in a wave of whispers. "Who is she?" "Carlisle? That family is gone." "I thought Herman Rich only had one daughter."

An elderly guest, an old friend of the Carlisle family, squinted, studying Adria's features. He turned to his wife, his voice a shocked whisper. "My God, her eyes... they're Eleanor Carlisle's eyes."

Dolores could no longer maintain her debutante poise. "You liar!" she shrieked, lunging at Adria, her hands clawing for the document. "You're trying to ruin everything!"

Adria didn't even flinch. As Dolores's manicured nails came close, Adria simply took a small step to the side and extended her foot.

Dolores, unbalanced in her towering heels and heavy gown, tripped and went down hard. She landed in an ungraceful heap on the plush carpet, her elaborate hairstyle coming undone, her makeup streaked with tears.

Adria looked down at her, her expression devoid of pity. Only contempt. "What's yours? Do you really think stolen things belong to you?"

Herman, seeing the situation spiral out of control, rushed the stage. He tried to grab the document from Adria's hand while pleading with Hudson. "Mr. Davenport, this is a misunderstanding! She's just a lunatic!"

But Hudson ignored him. His eyes were fixed on Adria, and on the document in her hand. For the first time, he spoke. His voice was a low, resonant baritone. "What proof do you have?"

Adria handed the document to him, not Herman.

At the top of the page were two signatures: Marcus Carlisle and Arthur Davenport III-Hudson's grandfather.

It was a marriage contract, an agreement between two of New York's most powerful old-money families. It stipulated that the direct heir of the Carlisle family would marry the heir of the Davenport family.

And the beneficiary was explicitly named: Marcus Carlisle's granddaughter, Adria Carlisle.

Hudson's gaze lifted from the paper to Adria's face. "Adria Carlisle was reported dead in an accident seventeen years ago."

Adria smiled, a humorless, cutting smile. "Reports can be fabricated. Just like my father fabricated a way to remove me from my inheritance and replace me with his own daughter."

Her words were a final, fatal blow. They pierced Herman's last line of defense. He crumpled, his legs giving out from under him.

The guests gasped, the truth of the situation dawning on them. This wasn't just a disruption; it was a real-life soap opera of greed and betrayal. Their looks toward the Rich family turned from confusion to scorn.

Just then, a commanding voice cut through the murmurs from the front row. "The Davenport family recognizes this contract."

It was Hudson's father, the patriarch of the family, Arthur Davenport IV. He stood, his gaze sharp and unwavering.

Arthur walked slowly to the altar, took the document from his son's hand, and glanced at it. Then he turned to Herman. "Mr. Rich, it seems you owe us an explanation."

Sweat poured down Herman's face. He couldn't speak.

Adria watched the drama unfold with an unnerving calm. This was only the first step. Her eyes returned to Hudson, waiting for his final verdict.

Hudson's gaze was deep and unreadable. He glanced at the pathetic, sobbing Dolores on the floor, then back at the mysterious, powerful woman standing before him. After a few seconds of heavy silence, he made his decision.
