Bound By Contract To The Billionaire Summary

To save her family from financial ruin, Alaina Carney signs a one-year contract marriage with Alaric Wynn, a cold, untouchable billionaire. But her toxic ex, Damian Horton—the man who engineered her family's downfall—refuses to let her go. When he learns she's opening an architecture gallery, he retaliates: short-selling her suppliers' stocks and forcing her construction crew to walk out. Cornering Alaina in her empty office, he demands she surrender the gallery and return as his hidden mistress, threatening to destroy anyone who works with her—even the Wynn Group. Just as Damian gives her one hour to submit, Alaric strides in, tears the contract to shreds, and delivers a devastating blow to Damian's board: his team has just bought a controlling stake in Damian's entire company.

Chapter 1 of Bound By Contract To The Billionaire

"We're done, Alaina. I'm engaged to Joan."

The words dropped like lead across the elegant outdoor terrace of the upscale restaurant. Damian Horton, the heir to Horton Industries and the man Alaina Carney had loved for three years, looked at her without a shred of guilt. He knew exactly that Joan Knapp was Alaina's absolute worst enemy, a woman who had spent her entire life trying to destroy Alaina, yet he had chosen her anyway.

Alaina stared at him, her fingers trembling around the velvet box in her pocket. Inside was a custom-made men's platinum band. She had ordered it months ago, back when her family's architecture firm was still thriving, intending to propose to him today. She thought he would support her through her family's sudden crisis. She was horribly wrong.

"Is this because my family's company went bankrupt?" she asked, her voice tight with shock. "Because my father is facing prison?"

Damian let out a harsh, mocking laugh, his handsome face twisting into something ugly. "Of course it is. Don't flatter yourself. Dating you was just a fun little game when you had money. But marriage? I need an equal. Someone with power and status, like Joan." He glanced down at the velvet box she had half-pulled from her pocket, his eyes filled with casual contempt. "Is that a ring? God, how pathetic."

"But," Damian stepped closer, lowering his voice into a sleazy purr. "Since you love me so much, you can be my mistress. Joan doesn't have to know, and I can give you a generous allowance to keep you warm."

Rage, hot and blinding, erupted in Alaina's chest. Without a single word, she raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face. The sharp crack echoed across the terrace.

"Go to hell, Damian," she spat.

Without shedding a single tear, she turned on her heel and walked away. She walked straight to a high-end pawnshop two blocks away. She sold the ring without a second thought. Her family was bankrupt, her father was facing prison, and every dollar counted.

Stepping out into the cold evening air, she pulled out her phone and opened a message thread with Alaric Wynn, the ruthless billionaire who controlled the city's most powerful financial empire and, more importantly, Damian's biggest rival.

"I agree to marry you," she typed, and hit send.

An hour later, Alaina Carney sat in a silent conference room. Across the polished mahogany table, Alaric Wynn watched her. He was stillness personified.

The lawyer cleared his throat. “To reiterate the core terms. A marriage of one year’s duration. Miss Carney will receive the protection of Mr. Wynn, resolving all current debt obligations of her family.”

Alaina looked at the man across the table. Just a few days ago, Alaric had inexplicably approached her with a marriage proposal. At the time, she had flatly refused because she had a boyfriend. But after being so brutally humiliated by Damian, she had accepted Alaric's offer in a fit of anger. Now that she had calmed down, she felt a bit apprehensive. Why would a man of his limitless power proactively come to her? But she had no time to question his motives.

No more hesitation. She picked up the pen and signed her name. Alaina Carney.

Alaric gave a slight nod to his lawyer, then signed his own name in a sharp, angular script. It was done.

“Congratulations, Mr. Wynn, Mrs. Wynn.”

Alaric stood, adjusting his cuff. “Let’s go,” he said.

She followed him out of the law firm. A black Bentley Mulsanne was waiting at the curb, a silent, hulking beast. The driver held the door open.

The car’s interior was oppressive, smelling of new leather and old money. Alaina stared out the window as the New York streetscape blurred past. A wave of profound uncertainty washed over her. What did her future hold now?

The car glided to a stop before a towering limestone building on Central Park West.

“Welcome back, Mr. Wynn,” the doorman said, his voice hushed with reverence.

A private elevator ascended directly to the top floor. When the doors opened, they revealed a sprawling living room encased in 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows. The whole of Manhattan glittered below.

An assistant was waiting. He handed Alaina a set of sleek, minimalist cards.

“Mrs. Wynn,” the assistant said, his tone perfectly neutral. “These are the access cards for the apartment, the garage key, and this...”

He held out a black, metallic card.

The American Express Centurion. The Black Card.

“Mr. Wynn said there is no limit.”

After the assistant left, the vast apartment was silent again, save for the faint hum of the city below. Alaric shrugged off his suit jacket, tossing it onto a stark white sofa. He loosened his tie with a single, practiced tug.

He walked over to a crystal decanter on a side table, pouring amber liquid into two heavy glasses. He handed one to Alaina. The scent of aged bourbon mixed with his intoxicating, dominant musk of cedar.

"Drink," he commanded softly.

Alaina took the glass, her fingers brushing his. A jolt of electricity shot up her arm. Needing something to calm her racing heart, she took a deep swallow. The alcohol burned down her throat, instantly warming her blood.

Then, he started walking toward her.

With each step he took, the air grew thinner. She felt an instinctual urge to retreat, her back finding the cold, unyielding glass of the window.

Nowhere else to go.

The city lights swam beneath her feet. A wave of vertigo washed over her, amplified by the potent bourbon.

He stopped just in front of her, close enough that she could feel the heat radiating from his body. He braced a hand on the glass beside her head, trapping her in his shadow.

He leaned in, his blue eyes scanning her face. His gaze dropped to her lips, lingering there for a heartbeat before slowly tracing the line of her neck.

“Scared?” His voice was a low, dangerous rumble that vibrated against her skin.

Alaina forced herself to meet his gaze, even as her heart hammered against her ribs.

“I took your money, Mr. Wynn.” Her own voice was surprisingly steady. “My only fear is that you’ll decide I wasn’t worth the price.”

A corner of his mouth twitched, a barely-there curve of cold, detached approval. He reached out with his other hand, his fingers closing around her jaw. The calloused pad of his thumb brushed against her lower lip, pressing slightly, sending a jolt of electricity straight to her core.

“Good,” he said, his grip firm, his breath hot against her cheek. “Remember that. You belong to me now, Alaina. Every single inch of you.”

Before she could process his words, Alaric's lips captured hers in a bruising, possessive kiss. The taste of premium bourbon and raw male hunger invaded her senses. Alaina gasped into his mouth. The alcohol buzzing in her veins dissolved her reservations, leaving only a primal heat.

She dropped her glass. It shattered on the rug, but neither cared. Alaric's large hands gripped her waist, lifting her effortlessly until her legs wrapped around his hips. He carried her toward the massive master bedroom, devouring her completely.

He threw her onto the plush king-sized bed, following her down immediately. His fingers deftly unbuttoned her oversized suit jacket, exposing the delicate silk camisole underneath.

"You are mine now," he growled against her collarbone, his teeth nipping at her sensitive skin, drawing out a soft, breathy moan from her lips. "Damian is a fool to let a gem like you go."

His hands roamed over her curves, igniting fires wherever they touched. The friction of their bodies and the heavy breaths echoing in the silent room pushed Alaina over the edge. She tangled her fingers in his dark hair, giving in to the overwhelming tide of lust. The world outside ceased to exist, leaving only the intoxicating friction of skin against skin, and the relentless, driving rhythm that consumed them both.

As the intense pleasure finally crested, Alaina lay panting softly against his chest. The room fell into a heavy, sated silence, broken only by the steady beating of Alaric's heart beneath her cheek.

Slowly, the haze of alcohol and passion began to fade. She stared at the ceiling, a profound wave of uncertainty about the future washing over her. She had just sold herself, body and soul, to a man she had only known for a single day. A man whose power was as terrifying as his touch was intoxicating.

But as she turned her head slightly to look at the striking, enigmatic billionaire resting beside her, the uncertainty in her eyes was quickly replaced by a cold, hardened resolve.

She didn't know what tomorrow would bring, or what dealing with Alaric Wynn would truly entail. But one thing was absolutely certain. She would make everyone who had destroyed her family and humiliated her pay the ultimate price.

And the dangerous, immensely powerful man sleeping next to her? He wasn't just her new husband.

He was going to be her sharpest blade.
