But Sienna still refused to leave her alone. Sienna called Beatrice.
Over the phone, Sienna no longer pretended and spoke in a proud tone, “Beatrice, you heard everything, right?”
This call from Sienna was only to watch her break down, to step on her into the ground, to completely crush her.
How could Beatrice allow Sienna to get what she wanted? She didn’t reply, only quietly held her phone.
Her silence successfully made Sienna angry. Sienna grew worked up. “Don’t think staying quiet means it never happened. Your Jaxon doesn’t want to sleep with you, says you are stiff and boring in bed.”
“Your Millicent dislikes you the most, says you’re annoying and useless. The worst mom in the world is you.”
The more Sienna talked, the more excited she became. “What is the point of you being good-looking? What is the point of so many people chasing you? What is the point of you being some goddess? You are nothing but my beaten loser. Hahaha!”
Beatrice felt a sudden pain in her heart, her voice trying to stay calm. “Just for pride, you are willing to be another person’s mistress? Be another person’s stepmother? You have taken my happiness now, can you promise no one will take yours in the future?”
“My things will never be taken by anyone else! Beatrice, clearly, I knew Jaxon first. Why was it you who ended up with him? Now I am only taking back what belongs to me!”
“If it really belonged to you, would you need to grab it?” Beatrice asked.
“No matter how you argue, anyway, I won! Jaxon already told me that when we return this time, he will divorce you. You can forget about getting your daughter’s custody! Just wait to be thrown out!” Sienna ended the call with a loud click.
After the call ended, Beatrice could not calm herself for a long time. No matter how calm she looked, the tears on her face still revealed her feelings.
Sienna liking Jaxon was something Beatrice had always noticed.
But Jaxon always brushed Beatrice off by saying Sienna only had a boyish nature and treated men this way.
As time went on, Sienna had always used this role to step into their life.
Jaxon enjoyed Beatrice’s gentleness while quietly accepting Sienna’s passion.
Beatrice had thought that as the years passed, Sienna’s feelings would finally stop. She hadn’t expected that Sienna had never once given up.
And Jaxon? What was he thinking now? Was he tired of her? Finally, unable to bear it, wanting to throw her out?
Beatrice walked home with shaky steps. The moment she opened the door, Jaxon and Millicent were both sitting on the sofa, their cold faces turned toward her.
“Where did you go messing around again? You still remember to come back?” Jaxon coldly asked.
Beatrice looked at him in confusion, wondering how he had taken her words, when clearly he was the one always fooling around.
Seeing Beatrice’s stunned look, Jaxon grew more annoyed the longer he watched. He picked up the papers on the coffee table and threw them straight at Beatrice’s face.
Beatrice was completely unprepared. Pieces of paper were scattered across her face. The sharp edge of the A4 sheets scraped her skin, leaving thin streaks of blood.
She covered her face in hurt and stared at Jaxon in shock
“Staring at me? Look carefully at yourself! See what terrible thing you’ve done!” Jaxon said in uncontrolled anger.
Beatrice picked up the documents from the floor. On them was her gynecological examination report, clearly showing that she had gotten a sexually transmitted disease.
She felt this was a form of shame. This single sheet told her that her husband had betrayed their marriage, that her happiness had only been fake.
She had always kept this sheet at the deepest part of the drawer, but today it was fully exposed outside, still right in front of her daughter.
“Nothing to say? Is this the kind of wife and mother you are? Speak! Which random man were you messing around with to catch such a dirty disease!” Jaxon stood up in anger.
“Mom, you’re so filthy! So gross! Having you as my mom really makes me feel embarrassed! Dad, hurry and divorce this filthy woman!” Millicent looked at her with disgust.
Beatrice looked at Jaxon with disappointment. After this incident, she had never spoken because she didn't want to ruin Jaxon’s image in Millicent’s heart.
But now Jaxon actually brought their daughter to question her?
What right did he have! Clearly, it was he who caused her to get the disease, who made her develop cancer!
“Jaxon, you know very well what you have done. It should be me asking you, have you and Sienna been enjoying yourselves!” Beatrice said.
Jaxon was stunned by her words, guiltily shifting his eyes aside, stubbornly saying, “She and I are clean and innocent. You’re the filthy one. Do you think everyone is like you? I really regret marrying a woman like you!”
Millicent excitedly hit Beatrice. “You’re not allowed to talk about godmother, not allowed to talk about godmother! You bad woman! Rotten woman!”
Beatrice looked sadly at her husband and her daughter.
The first half of her life that she gave with all her heart had returned only scolding, disgust, and dislike.
She was finally exhausted. Now she only wanted freedom. “We divorce! Jaxon, I want to divorce you!”
The angry Jaxon was shocked and asked in disbelief, “You said divorce? Do you have a job? Can you survive?”
“That is not something you need to care about.” Beatrice met his eyes straight.
But Jaxon didn’t dare meet her eyes again. He was mad, he was upset, but he had not wanted this ending.
He quickly pulled Millicent and ran out of the house. He didn’t know why he was running. Before leaving, he threw out cold words, “I’m taking my daughter away from this filthy house. In two days, we’ll come discuss divorce!”
But after two days, three days, many days, he didn't show up.
At first, Beatrice planned to remind Jaxon to also go for a test. After all, she had only ever been with Jaxon. Since she had caught the illness, Jaxon must have already caught it as well. But now she felt tired and no longer wanted to bother with Jaxon’s issues. Whether Jaxon stayed alive or died had nothing to do with her.
As for whether Sienna was the one who infected it, Beatrice also didn’t care to find out. She only hoped the experiment would work, heal her illness, and then let her go out and see this world. Spending these years beside Jaxon, she had already missed far too many things. It was time to begin her life again.
The one-month deadline quickly came. Beatrice held a small bag in her hand, gave one final look toward the once cozy little home, and then, without any lingering feeling, shut the door and left.
