After You Chose Her, I Freed Myself, Alpha!

Lycia’s POV

Tonight was supposed to be my fifth mating anniversary party with Alpha Ravien. I stepped out of the room in a beautiful dress, only to find my husband kissing his old lover—Irene.

“Your twin sister has returned, Luna Lycia!”

Everyone said it while I stood frozen. How could someone I once protected from wild wolves and promised to be my sweet twin sister now be dancing intimately with my husband? Her hands were wrapped around his neck without hesitation.

Worse still, the entire Drakara Pack supported them and ignored my presence.

My party had truly turned into her grand welcome. Until suddenly, the enemy pack attacked us. All the Drakara wolves accused me without hesitation of revealing the party’s location to them. I was considered jealous and frustrated with Irene.

So when Irene was kidnapped, to save Irene, Alpha Ravien and my parents were willing to give me to the enemy wolf pack, just to exchange for Irene. And I was taken away.

Ten days after being kidnapped, he did nothing—breaking his promise to redeem me.

The enemies finally grew furious, stabbed me repeatedly in the stomach and threw me into a ravine. Heavy rain drowned me until a kind human saved me.

When I woke up, no one was beside me. Instead, I accidentally saw Irene's post. “More than ten days exploring the world with my old love—Alpha Ravien Drakara.”

Her photos were spread across the pack’s social media: the red moon in the Black Forest, the aurora in the Icelandic mountains, the Venice night gondola, and breakfast at the hidden Skye castle.

The places I once called my ‘dream territories’—which Ravien promised I’d explore when I was pregnant.

And now he’s made it happen…

for another she wolf. So easily.

The wolf within me howled in pain.

So when the call that only comes once a year—appeared, I pressed the green button without hesitation.

“You picked up the phone??” His wolfish voice was full of surprise.

“Yes,” I replied calmly. “If you're calling with the same offer as previous years, then this time the answer is yes.”

His voice immediately surged, piercing and impatient. “Are you kidding?”

Just hearing him over the phone made my body shiver. All wolves know how powerful he is.

“This is a bond. Don't ever think you're just seeking revenge on me.”

Louis Xavier.

The Alpha of the Eastern region. A brutal leader with widespread influence. A wolf even feared by the central council. And also, my former love before I considered him an enemy.

So on the night I had to decide, Ravien—who had just lost Irene—knelt before me and asked me to marry him. Because of my parents' coercion. For the pack. For stability. And for the love I thought would grow.

So I tried to forget Louis.

“Back then, you would have immediately refused the call,” Louis' voice sounded again. “You usually just ignored hundreds of messages. As hard as stone. But this time... what made you change your mind so quickly?”

I remained silent. Knowing clearly that I was making a dangerous decision.

But something struck the wolf within me. Pain. Ravien’s betrayal and even the Drakara Pack. So without another thought, I said, “I’ve decided. This is your chance, and I just need a week to finish everything here.”

“Of course. And you’ll never be able to take it back,” he said firmly. “I’ll come to fetch you soon.”

“Don’t get too excited; this is just a contract, not love.”

“Whatever it is, do you think I care?”

I smiled silently. Years had passed, and it seemed he hadn’t changed at all. Still as annoying as ever. The curve of my lips didn’t last long because the door opened.

Ravien appeared.

And I immediately felt the atmosphere in the healing room grow cold. The familiar scent of his body, which used to be soothing, now only made me sick.

“Who were you smiling at?”

I hung up the connection. My face went blank, holding back the pain that couldn't be put into words as I looked at him now.

“You wouldn’t have been hurt if you hadn’t acted so childish.” He approached. “Just because you’re jealous of your twin sister.”

He didn’t even bother to ask how I was. He didn’t explain why he brought Irene to the places I’d dreamed of.

“Did you come here just to blame me?” I laughed hollowly. “Just leave.”

His face softened immediately. As if a sense of guilt emerged. “Don’t get angry. I came to take you home.”

I was about to refuse, but my lips stopped moving when the door opened again. Both of my parents appeared.

“Lycia, have you been too comfortable staying in the healer room?” Alex’s voice—my father’s, never friendly. “Go home. The pack needs you. We just came from the next room; Irene has a fever.”

So they’d all been in the next room, waiting for Irene. Just a fever. While I, who was nearly dead—was left alone.

I realized that my parents always preferred Irene—who was obedient and easy to please. Meanwhile, I, who had been independent since childhood, was considered rebellious.

Irene got everything I had ever dreamed of. Even Alpha Ravien, who betrayed me so easily now.

For five years, I became Luna of the Drakara pack. During that time, he convinced me that he had forgotten his lover—Irene, who had gone missing during the hunt.

For five years, he pursued me possessively and placed me in the best love I’ve ever known. I believed, surrendering my entire life to him. And that was my biggest mistake.

When Irene returned, Ravien immediately turned to her... as if I had never existed. As if the time we spent together meant nothing.

“Lycia,” Ravien's voice broke my thoughts. The car arrived at the Pack's house. “Listen, I will forgive you for summoning the enemy pack to destroy our fifth mating party, on one condition. Join us at Irene’s birthday party tonight.”
