"This is what I told you, Jemima's precious daughter! I spent three years chasing her mother, but it only took me three seconds to chase her." Mike said proudly as his hand slid to my back.
I felt sick in my stomach. I kept smiling and let him show off his trophy in front of everyone. Compared to my father's medical expenses and my son's surgery expenses, these humiliations were nothing.
I gently wiped the wine stains from the corners of his mouth with my sleeve and chuckled, "The doctor told you to stop drinking, so just think of it for my sake."
The soft light in my eyes made him stop thinking about humiliating me in public and he poured me three glasses of wine.
"I told you to arrive in a quarter of an hour, why are you late? Hurry up and apologize to the bosses, otherwise your leave tonight will be invalid." He said coldly.
If I hadn't run into Isaac at the door, I wouldn't be late. From coaxing my son to sleep to rushing over with a high fever, I calculated every second was a penny.
Although Mike was nearly fifty years old, he couldn’t fall asleep without tossing and turning for a day, unless I was sick. But today, I asked him for leave and he put forward these conditions. If I didn’t coax him well, I would definitely not be able to sleep tonight.
I ignored Isaac's secretive eyes, picked up the three glasses of white wine in front of me and drank them all. After three glasses of strong liquor, my stomach churned. My body couldn't stand the high fever at all. My throat was burning and my eyes went dark.
"Sorry, I'm going to the bathroom." I turned around and stumbled into the bathroom, vomiting violently.
Alcohol mixed with stomach acid burned my throat and tears flowed out uncontrollably.
I held the edge of the sink tightly and looked at myself in the mirror, my face was pale, but my lips were abnormally red due to the high fever and the broken hair on my forehead was soaked with cold sweat and stuck to my cheeks.
My face was really ugly. I scooped up cold water and slapped it hard on my face, trying to sober myself up.
"Your mother hates mistresses the most in her life. Does she know that you are so cheap to be a mistress now?" A cold voice came from behind me and I met Isaac's sarcastic eyes in the mirror.
He leaned against the door, dressed in a suit and leather shoes, with an indifferent look, as if he was just watching a joke.
I pulled the corners of my mouth, didn't answer and continued to lower my head to rinse my mouth.
Seeing that I didn't speak, he walked closer with a sneer, "What? Are you mute?"
"Isn't this exactly what you want?" I answered whatever he wanted to hear.
Now I had lost my former pride.
Isaac's eyes suddenly sank, mixed with surprise.
Facing these cold eyes, the nightmare wedding five years ago reappeared.
His assistant Julia threw the marriage certificate in my face, calling me a mistress, the guests in the audience pointed and talked, my mother fell to the ground on the spot and my father slapped me in the face...
And Isaac stood in the middle of the crowd, watching all this indifferently. He hated me. Because he believed that it was my mother who forced his childhood sweetheart, Bella and her mother to death.
But it was Bella's mother who interfered in other people's marriages. When the mistress took away the first wife's property, my mother, as a lawyer, helped the first wife win the lawsuit and get back what belonged to her.
It was also Bella's mother who was unwilling to accept this and took her to jump off the building, hoping to force the scumbag to change his mind. As a result, she slipped and fell from the building and both mother and daughter died.
Isaac didn't believe it and couldn't accept this fact. He stubbornly believed that it was my mother who forced them to death. So, he deliberately approached me, tricked me into a secret marriage and then humiliated me in public at the wedding, destroying my whole family.
"Suzy, how did your mother teach you?"
