Chapter 1 of After My Mate Replaced Me with a Rogue

I'm Luna Juliette Greene of the Moonveil Pack, and tonight I'm watching my daughter sleep when my world starts to crack apart.

Evie's curled up in her bed, one small hand clutching her favorite stuffed wolf, the one Uncle Bruno gave her years ago. Buster lies at her feet, his golden head resting on his paws. He's been restless all evening, growling at shadows, his ears pricked toward the door like he's waiting for something terrible.

"It's okay, boy," I whisper, stroking his soft fur. "Everything's fine."

Then the mind-link slams into me.

*Luna! Emergency at the festival grounds. Your daughter—the ceremonial maze collapsed. She's been trapped for three hours. We need you NOW.*

The security chief's panic floods through the connection, sharp and metallic. My heart stops. I look down at Evie, sleeping peacefully, her chest rising and falling in steady rhythm.

She's right here. Safe.

But the mind-link is official, high-priority, the kind reserved for life-or-death situations. My hands shake as I pull out my phone, checking the time. The Harvest Moon Festival started hours ago, but Evie never left the pack house. I made sure of it myself.

"Mrs. Chen," I call softly to the trusted Omega in the hallway. "Stay with Evie. Don't let anyone in. No one."

Her eyes widen at my tone, but she nods. Buster whines, pressing against my leg like he's trying to hold me back.

I run.

The festival grounds blaze with light when I arrive, the sacred moon banners snapping in the wind. My hair's come loose from its careful updo, and I'm still wearing my house clothes—soft leggings and an oversized sweater, nothing like the formal Luna attire I should be wearing for such an important night.

The VIP entrance guards stare at me like I've grown a second head.

"Luna Juliette?" The younger one blinks. "But you're already—"

"What?" I push past him, my wolf surging beneath my skin. "What did you say?"

"Luna Juliette is already inside," the older guard says slowly, pointing toward the Royal Box. "In the VIP booth with Alpha Isaiah. She's been here all evening."

Ice floods my veins.

I shove through the crowd, ignoring the startled gasps and whispers. The Royal Box sits elevated above the festival grounds, draped in silver and white—our pack colors. Through the sheer curtains, I can see figures moving.

I climb the stairs. My fingers find my Luna pendant, my mother's gift, the one I never take off. It's still there, warm against my skin.

Then I see her.

A woman sits in my chair, wearing the ceremonial Luna robes that should be locked in my closet. My family's moonstone jewelry glitters at her throat and wrists—pieces that have been passed down through generations, that I wore at my own mating ceremony.

Mckenzie Bell.

I'd know that red-brown hair anywhere, though I've only seen her in pack security reports. Rogue. No pack affiliation. Dangerous.

She's leaning into my mate's side, and Isaiah—my Isaiah—has his arm around her shoulders. A young girl clings to his other side, maybe eight or nine years old, with Mckenzie's coloring.

"Daddy, look!" the girl squeals, pointing at something in the festival grounds below. "Can we go see?"

Daddy.

The word punches through me like a claw to the chest.

Isaiah smiles at her, tender and warm, the way he used to smile at Evie when she was small. Before the late nights and mysterious absences. Before the distance that grew between us like a canyon I couldn't cross.

"Isaiah." My voice comes out steady, though my hands are shaking. "What is this?"

Every head in the booth turns toward me.

Mckenzie's eyes widen, and for a split second, I see calculation flash across her face. Then her expression crumbles into fear. She shrinks against Isaiah, clutching his arm.

"Isaiah," she whimpers. "Who is that woman? Why is she looking at me like that?"

My mate—my mate—steps between us. His face hardens into something I don't recognize.

"Juliette." His voice carries the Alpha command that makes lesser wolves drop their eyes. "What are you doing here?"

"What am I—" I can't breathe. "I received a mind-link. About Evie. About an accident."

"Evie is fine," he says coldly. "She's at home, where she belongs. Unlike you, apparently."

The gathered dignitaries in the booth shift uncomfortably. I recognize faces from neighboring packs, important wolves who came for the sacred festival. They're all staring at me like I'm the intruder.

"Isaiah, those are my robes. My jewelry. That woman is—"

"That woman," Isaiah cuts me off, his voice dropping into a growl that raises the hair on my arms, "is my Luna. And you need to leave before you embarrass yourself further."

The world tilts.

Mckenzie presses closer to him, her voice small and frightened. "Please, Alpha. I don't know who she is, but she's scaring Lilian."

The little girl buries her face in Isaiah's side, peeking at me with wide, terrified eyes that look nothing like my daughter's honest gaze.

"You're making a scene, Juliette." Isaiah's amber eyes are flat, emotionless. "This jealous, hysterical behavior is beneath you. Beneath a Luna."

Jealous. Hysterical.

The words land like slaps.

"I am your Luna," I say, but my voice wavers. "We have a daughter. We have a mate bond—"

"We have nothing." His Alpha aura slams into me, forcing my wolf to submit. "You're confused. Delusional. I think you need to see the pack healer."

The dignitaries murmur. Someone whispers "rogue" and "unstable."

Mckenzie watches me over Isaiah's shoulder, and just for a heartbeat, her frightened mask slips. She smirks.

Then Isaiah turns his back on me, guiding Mckenzie and the girl deeper into the booth, and I'm left standing there in my house clothes, shaking, while the sacred Harvest Moon rises over the festival grounds and my mate chooses someone else.

After He Chose His Mistress I Became His Rival's Star
After He Chose His Mistress I Became His Rival's Star
As my client was getting a little too friendly, Nasir Bradley was enjoying a glass of wine with his assistant nearby. Trying to keep the client happy, I ended up drinking more than I should have and felt on the verge of passing out. Yet Nasir didn’t so much as glance at me; he was too busy picking the olives out of his assistant’s dish, encouraging her to eat. After dinner, the assistant remarked that it had been dull, which was all Nasir needed to hear before pulling over and practically pushing me out of the car to take her to the next event. “This young lady has been working hard lately; I'm just taking her out for some fun,” Nasir said dismissively. “You probably wouldn't understand what the younger crowd is into these days, so it’s best if you don’t come along. Besides, I’m going to make sure she has a great time tonight; we can talk about the marriage license another time.” For five years, Nasir had canceled our wedding plans ninety-nine times. I nodded. If he was always busy, there was really no point in going through with it. From the slightly open passenger window, Leah Palmer stuck out her tongue apologetically, "Sorry, Christina, Nasir's just spoiling me a bit.

Just like the evening breeze leaves no trace
Just like the evening breeze leaves no trace
Chapter 1 It was their seventh wedding anniversary. Carolyn found the divorce agreement in Roger’s nightstand. The pages were covered in scribbles and corrections, as if he’d agonized over them for years. *"If, during the marriage, I fall in love with another person, I voluntarily relinquish all assets and leave with nothing. Asset details as follows…"* His first impulse had been to walk away empty-handed. But the asset section told a different story—a mess of revisions. First, he’d crossed out the property he intended to give her. Then, the fifty million earmarked for her was scratched out and replaced with five hundred thousand. Finally, as if in penance, he had written a single line. *"Better to have Carolyn leave with nothing. No choice, Catherine is pregnant."* … Carolyn sank onto the bed, disbelief washing over her. On the agreement, Roger’s signature was clean and decisive, without a hint of hesitation. And the document had been drafted seven years ago—the very year they married. That year, Roger had been willing to give up everything for her. Yet every year after, he had crossed out another piece of their shared life. Now, seven years later, the one leaving with nothing would be her. Her phone buzzed abruptly. A message from Roger. *"Urgent business. Won't be back."* She called, only to find his phone already switched off. Another notification flashed—a screenshot from a friend. Catherine, the student she sponsored, had posted on social media. *"Wow, got praised! To commemorate my first period without a leak, the big boss said we should celebrate properly!"* In a nine-photo collage, Roger gazed at her, eyes crinkling with affection as he fastened a dazzling gemstone necklace around her neck. The post was tagged at a couples-themed hotel. Carolyn’s breath caught. He couldn’t remember seven years of marriage, of weathering storms together—but he could find the energy to celebrate Catherine’s… leak-free period. And that pendant… she’d seen it at an auction just last week. It was her mother’s lost heirloom. She’d been ready to bid when her bank card was frozen. She’d asked Roger why. A long time later, he finally texted back, telling her not to waste money on such impractical things. Clutching her bidding paddle, she’d sat helplessly in the auction hall. In the end, she resolved to sell one of her own designs to raise the funds. But someone on the phone swooped in with an unbeatable offer and took it. For weeks afterward, Carolyn hated herself—hated that she couldn’t protect her mother’s last keepsake. She never imagined the one who snatched it away was Roger. He knew exactly how much that pendant meant to her. Yet he gave it to Catherine. Even on their seventh anniversary, Roger had lied about being busy with work, while wining and dining the girl she’d sponsored. The anniversary gift he left her was a divorce agreement demanding she leave with nothing. Seven years of marriage. Seven years of infidelity. And Carolyn had known nothing. She’d even introduced the other woman to him herself. Catherine was the impoverished student Carolyn sponsored. The first time Catherine came to their home to give thanks, Roger found her intrusive and disliked her on sight. *"That girl has no manners. Tracked mud all over my cashmere rug."* *"If her grades aren’t up to par, cut the sponsorship."* Back then, Carolyn had teased him, saying not to be jealous—it was good the girl had a grateful heart. She never once suspected Roger and Catherine. For seven years, everyone in their circle believed Roger never played around. That he loved only Carolyn. But by their next meeting, Catherine had become Roger’s personal assistant. Roger explained, *"The girl’s had it tough. You’ve sponsored her for years. Giving her a job is just helping you out."* Carolyn had laughed it off. Now, hands trembling, she opened Catherine’s social media feed. Catherine had always hidden her posts from Carolyn. Now, she seemed desperate to flaunt everything. While Carolyn drank until her stomach bled to secure a deal for Roger, Catherine was using Roger’s card to buy her first Louis Vuitton. While Carolyn changed bedpans for Roger’s bedridden grandmother, Roger was taking Catherine to a perfume atelier for a blending class—calling it a business trip. Catherine had even complained online. *"Your wife is such a pampered princess. Can't handle the tiniest thing without you running back. Can she not live without a man?"* And Roger had replied beneath it. *"If she were half as independent as you, I’d have an easier life."* But that day… Carolyn’s mother had lost her battle with cancer. She’d cried until her heart felt shredded, scrambling to handle the arrangements. All the while, Roger kept checking his phone impatiently, eager to leave. Not for work, she realized now—but because he was desperate to get back to Catherine.
My Alpha Saved His Mistress Instead of Me
My Alpha Saved His Mistress Instead of Me
The pack run had been Marcelo's idea. He'd announced it three days prior at the weekly council meeting, his Alpha tone leaving no room for debate. A show of unity, he'd called it. A reminder that the Black Moon Pack moved as one body, one purpose. I'd watched him from my seat at the far end of the table—the Luna's chair, though I'd stopped feeling like a Luna months ago—and said nothing. Petra Voss had nodded approvingly. The other council members had murmured their agreement. Rosalina, seated closer to Marcelo than protocol allowed, had smiled that soft, adoring smile she always wore around him. I should have known then. The territory's northern river was swollen from early spring melt, the current fast and mean.
