He strode forward and violently smashed the portraits of the six children, then set their urns ablaze in one final, merciless act.
I was forced to my knees in the snow, my shoulders pinned down by bodyguards, powerless to do anything but watch as my children vanished into thick, choking smoke.
My scalp went numb and I could no longer contain my fury. I screamed at him, "You evil! They were your children! Was killing them not enough? You won’t even let them rest in peace?"
Frank’s tone dripped with mockery. "You even had urns and portraits ready. What a convincing performance you’ve put on! Cut the ghostly charade. Call those little brats out here right now to apologize to Celine!"
I laughed in disbelief, my anger boiling over. "I told you they're dead! You killed them!"
Suddenly, the whip, soaked in saltwater, lashed viciously across my back and I coughed up a mouthful of blood.
Celine threw the whip to the bodyguard in disgust, then leaned her chest against Frank's arm, rubbing up against him.
"Frank, you absolutely must not believe a single word that wretched woman says! She’s just jealous that I’m going to have your baby, so she made up this lie about the children being dead! You have to teach her a lesson!"
Devastated beyond words, I broke free from the restraints on my arms and lunged at her, my hands clutching her throat with all my strength.
"You bitch! You wretched woman! Give me back my children’s lives!"
The next second, a massive vase came crashing down on my head. Shards of glass exploded around me and one of them sliced into my eye.
Frank’s gaze pierced my eyes like venom as he shouted in furious rage. “Crazy woman! You’re absolutely insane! Pull out her tongue! Let’s see how she lies and curses then!”
Almost immediately, a group of bodyguards pinned me down tightly. Cold, sharp blades pried open my mouth.
With searing, unbearable pain, a small, bloody piece of my tongue was cut off.
My eyes bloodshot, I screamed out hoarsely, barely understandable, “Frank! I’m not lying! The children are dead! If you don’t believe me, go ask your mother!”
Celine sneered and cruelly stomped on my tongue. “Well then! Not only do you lie to us, but you even deceive your elders! What are you all standing there for? Beat her! Keep hitting her until she tells the truth!”
The whip lashed brutally across my body, mixed with the sharp jolts from a stun baton.
Meanwhile, the wild moans and seductive whispers of that wicked couple echoed through the mourning hall.
By dawn, I was beaten until my flesh was torn and bloodied.
Frank calmly dressed himself, then sneered mockingly. “Jane, when you climbed into my bed, got pregnant with my child and tore me apart from Celine, you should have expected this kind of consequence! Don’t think for a second that I’ll leave the family fortune to your children. The heirs of the Watson Family will only be Celine’s children! If I don’t see you and those six little brats come to kowtow and apologize within two days, I swear you won’t get away with it!”
His cold gaze lingered on me for a moment, then he wrapped his arm around Celine’s waist and turned to leave.
I stared after their departing figures, my thoughts drifting back to the past.
My parents were well-known entrepreneurs in the industry. Everyone expected me to inherit their legacy and reach the pinnacle of life. But I stubbornly refused to believe in fate and came alone to this foreign land to make my own way.
When I was penniless and on the verge of starving on the streets, Kamari happened to pass by and saved me.
To repay her kindness, I agreed to help her get rid of the greedy Celine.
But unexpectedly, by a twist of fate, I ended up having a one-night stand with Frank and became pregnant with sextuplets.
Kamari pleaded repeatedly, so I reluctantly stayed despite Frank’s hatred.
That stay lasted eight years. I loved him for eight years and he hated me for eight years.
But I never imagined that his hatred would be so deep, forcing me to endure this unbearable loss of my children. If I could start over, I would never fall in love with him again.
Frank reached the door, but Celine suddenly clutched her stomach in pain.
“Frank, there’s something I haven’t told you all this time.”
