After My Alpha Chose Her, I Challenged Him in Blood Summary

The sacred bond fractured forever on our seventh anniversary. Standing before the Silvercrest Pack, I detected the scent of another female deeply woven into Archer's skin. Solana's jasmine fragrance revealed a secret, months-long affair rather than a fleeting mistake. My Alpha's devastating betrayal stood exposed to all. Chapter 1 of After My Alpha Chose Her, I Challenged Him in Blood

The bond broke at 10:14 p.m. on our seventh anniversary.

I smelled her first. Solana's scent—jasmine and something sharper, possessive—was woven through Archer's skin like a second layer. Not fresh. Not new. Established. The kind of scent that comes from weeks of contact, maybe months, the kind that sinks into fabric and hair and doesn't wash out.

I stood in the formal Luna position beside him under the ceremonial moonlight. The entire Silvercrest Pack had assembled on the grounds. Torches lined the stone circle. The air smelled like pine smoke and night-blooming flowers. I wore the white silk gown I'd chosen three weeks ago, back when I still believed this night would mean something.

My nose caught the jasmine again. I turned my head slightly and saw it: the Luna's ceremonial silver collar sitting at Solana Mendez's throat. Not mine. Hers. The clasp had been adjusted—I could see the new links even from fifteen feet away. She'd had it altered to fit her neck.

I looked at Archer. His face was composed. Prepared. Through the mate bond, I felt nothing. No warmth. No recognition. Just a deliberate, rehearsed blankness, like he'd closed a door between us and locked it from the other side.

I understood what was coming three seconds before he opened his mouth.

"Rosalie Campbell," Archer said. His voice carried the Alpha tone—not the mild version he used for pack discipline, but the formal, ceremonial weight that made lesser wolves drop their eyes. "I, Archer West, Alpha of the Silvercrest Pack, reject you as my mate and Luna."

The mark on my neck went ice-cold.

Not painful yet. Just cold. Like someone had pressed a block of frozen metal against my skin.

Archer kept speaking. Each word was precise. Rehearsed. "I sever the bond the Moon Goddess placed between us. I release you from all claims, all titles, all rights within this pack. I name Solana Mendez as my chosen Luna, and I bind myself to her before the assembled witnesses."

Inside me, Selene screamed.

Seven years of compressed agony detonated at once. My wolf—silent for so long I'd almost forgotten what her voice sounded like—howled with a sound that had no shape, no words, just raw biological violence tearing through every nerve I had. The cold mark on my neck turned to fire. My knees buckled.

I hit the ceremonial ground hard. My palms scraped stone. The white silk gown pooled around me like a accusation.

The bond severed.

It felt like something inside my chest had been ripped out through my ribs. Not metaphorically. Physically. I couldn't breathe. My vision went white at the edges. Selene's scream turned into a sound I'd never heard from her before—grief and fury so tangled together I couldn't tell where one ended and the other began.

The pack was silent. Hundreds of wolves watching. No one moved.

I looked up. Archer stood over me, his aura radiating cold satisfaction. Solana stood at his side now, her hand resting on his arm. The silver collar gleamed at her throat.

She smiled.

"Rosalie Campbell," Archer said again, his Alpha tone pressing down on me like a physical weight. "You are stripped of your Luna title. You will vacate Silvercrest territory by dawn. This is my command as Alpha. Do you understand?"

The Alpha tone demanded submission. My body wanted to bare my throat. Every instinct I'd been trained into for seven years screamed at me to drop my eyes, to acknowledge his authority, to accept.

I didn't.

I pushed myself up. Slowly. My arms shook. The dead mark on my neck burned cold and empty at the same time, a sensation that didn't make sense but was happening anyway. I got my knees under me. Then my feet.

I stood.

I did not bare my throat.

I looked at Archer. His jaw tightened—just slightly, just on the left side. I'd seen that tell before. It meant he was surprised. He'd expected me to stay down.

I didn't speak. I didn't cry. I looked at him with an expression I didn't have a name for, something that lived in the space between grief and a promise. Several wolves in the front row took a step back.

Then I turned and walked out of the ceremony grounds.

Each step was deliberate. I kept my spine straight. My knees wanted to betray me again—the severing was still tearing through my system, waves of nausea and phantom pain that had no source and no end—but I didn't let them. I walked past the torches. Past the assembled pack. Past the stone archway that marked the boundary of the ceremonial circle.

No one followed me.

I made it to the Luna's quarters at 11:03 p.m. The rooms were dark. I didn't turn on the lights. I moved through the space by memory and moonlight, packing a single bag with the methodical calm of someone operating past the point where feeling is useful.

Travel clothes. Identification documents. The contact information for a Nightveil border patrol I'd located in Silvercrest's alliance records three months ago—a precaution I'd taken without knowing why, some instinct I hadn't named.

At the bottom of the bag, beneath everything else, I placed my black leather sparring gloves. The ones I'd worn as Black Rose. I didn't look at them. I just folded them carefully and pressed them flat under my spare jeans.

I walked out of Silvercrest territory at 4:47 a.m.

The sky was still dark. No one stopped me. The guards at the main gate saw me coming and stepped aside without a word. One of them—a young Delta I'd helped train two years ago—opened his mouth like he wanted to say something, then closed it again.

I crossed the boundary line and kept walking.

Behind me, Silvercrest's lights disappeared into the trees.

I drove north through the night. The phantom pain hit in waves—biological, nauseating, relentless. My hands shook on the steering wheel. Twice I had to pull over and wait for my vision to clear. Selene's voice, which should have been there, was absent. The silence where my wolf used to live was worse than the physical pain.

At the Nightveil Pack's southern border, I stopped the car. The sky was starting to lighten—not dawn yet, but close. I stepped out onto the gravel shoulder. The air smelled different here. Colder. Cleaner.

Two border patrol wolves emerged from the tree line. Both armed. Both watching me with the careful neutrality of guards who'd seen refugees before.

I gave them my name. My reason. I invoked the Lycan Prince's standing open-border protocol for sovereign wolves in distress—a law I'd memorized from pack records I wasn't supposed to have access to.

Then I said: "Tell Prince Leonidas that Black Rose is at his border."

I waited. Engine off. Hands at my sides. The dead mark on my neck still burning cold.

One of the guards spoke quietly into his radio. I couldn't hear the response.

The sky turned grey. Then pale blue. Dawn was coming.

The guard lowered his radio and looked at me. His expression had changed—not suspicion anymore, but something closer to recognition.

"The Prince says to bring you in," he said. "He's been waiting."
