Chapter 1 of Advise My Sister to Divorce the Scumbag

I found out that my sister's boyfriend was cheating on me, so I advised her to break up with him, but she said I was jealous that she had such an outstanding boyfriend. My mother favored my sister, slapped me, and scolded me for not wanting to see my sister do well. So I just stood by and watched my sister step into the fire pit step by step...

1

[Amelia, Yohan is working overtime again.]

[Why is he so busy? He works overtime every day. I'm so bored at home alone.]

At 11 p.m., while lounging on my bed and engrossed in my mobile phone, I suddenly received two WhatsApp messages from my younger sister, Brittany Clark.

I sneered inwardly and forwarded her an online article.

The headline boldly read: [The hidden truth girls miss: If your boyfriend always works late at the office, he might be cheating on you].

Before long, Brittany called me.

She growled on the phone, "Amelia, what do you mean? Are you jealous of me? Last time, you told me that Yohan betrayed me, which led to a huge argument between us. However, it turned out to be a misunderstanding. Now, we I have reconciled, but you are instigating me to break up with him..."

"Stop! Brittany, listen carefully. I don't have time to instigate you to break up with Yohan. It's none of my business. Didn't you just mention you were bored? I came across this article, so I forwarded it to you to help you kill some time," I explained to Brittany patiently.

However, in fact, I sent that article to her on purpose because Yohan Wilson, her boyfriend, was really a cheating scumbag.

I witnessed him and his mistress kissing passionately in the restaurant, and I even took photos and sent them to Brittany.

At that time, she wept in my arms. "Amelia, how could he do this to me? What should I do?"

I shook my head. "It's your business. Make your own decision."

Brittany's eyes were bloodshot from crying. She held my hand tightly. "I'm lost... Amelia, please help me. I will listen to you."

So, I advised, "Break up with him."

Brittany hesitated. "But Yohan is very nice to me."

"No matter how nice he is to you, it doesn't change the fact that he's intimate with other girls. If that doesn't bother you, you're welcome to stay with him."

After shedding tears for a long time, Brittany finally promised me that she would definitely part company with Yohan.

To my surprise, the next day, my mother asked me to go home for dinner. As soon as I entered the house, she slapped me hard!

"Damn you! How could you instigate Brittany to break up with Yohan? Are you jealous that she has a good boyfriend? Or do you want her to split with Yohan so you can have him?"

I was confused by my mother's slap and curse.

The fruits, snacks, and health products I had purchased for her tumbled to the floor and scattered everywhere.

Since childhood, I had been well aware that my mother was partial to Brittany. She only cared about Brittany and always spoke softly to her while I often received scoldings or even beatings.

However, I really couldn't stand the slap in the face and the verbal abuse today.

Covering my face, I asked angrily, "Mom, what do you mean? Why did you blame me for instigating Brittany to break up?"

Brittany explained, "Amelia, Yohan made it clear to me last night. He didn't cheat on me, and he didn't do anything to let me down. It was that shameless girl who pestered him and forcefully kissed him."

What?

I almost laughed.

Just as I was about to speak, Brittany complained, "Amelia, you are really annoying. You asked me to break up without even figuring out the whole thing, and it resulted in a big fight between Yohan and me. You're really unreliable."

I burst into laughter in anger. "You idiot! He just lied! Are you so thirsty for men that you even want a scumbag like him?"

My mother slapped me again, causing me to lose balance and almost fall to the floor.

Poking my forehead hard, she scolded, "I knew you were jealous of Brittany! Yohan fell for her when he had a blind date with you. In a rage, you resorted to every trick to split them apart!"

"No!" I shouted, tears welling up in my eyes.

My mother glared at me. "You're still lying! I gave birth to you, so how could I not see through your hidden agendas? You've always been vindictive and narrow-minded since childhood. Brittany, on the other hand, has been sympathetic. You've stirred up trouble, making her quarrel with her boyfriend. But she even convinced me not to scold you, saying she understood your jealousy and even bought you a gift..."

"Mom!" I yelled, trying hard to hold back my tears.

"Mom, am I so evil in your eyes? When will you stop being partial?"

"Yeah, so what if I am partial to Brittany? She has been more sensible and obedient than you since she was a child. Of course, I favor her other than you, a person with malicious intentions."

I froze, unable to control my tears any longer as they streamed down nonstop.

After all these years, my mother finally admitted that she was partial.

2

In my childhood memories, Brittany had a volatile temper. Whenever she was upset, her reaction was to hit me, bite me, tear up my homework books, and cut my dresses.

I was so furious that I struck her. Yet, in response, my mother severely thrashed me with a clothes hanger.

She said, "Brittany is still little, and you are the elder sister, so you should be the one to give in. If you injure her, I will punish you!"

Afterward, Brittany went to school and got full marks in the exam.

Overjoyed, my mother called all her relatives and friends to share the news and even rewarded Brittany with a lovely doll.

I wanted that doll, too.

But even though I got full marks countless times, my mother refused to buy me one.

Later, Brittany and I both went to college.

My mother provided her with three thousand dollars monthly for living expenses and occasional allowances, whereas I received only eight hundred dollars per month.

I wished my mother to give me two hundred dollars more, but she said, "You are already an adult. Can't you work part-time to earn money? I have already paid your tuition, yet you still have the nerve to ask me for living expenses. You are really greedy!"

I had long been aware that my mother had her biases, but I never realized they ran this deep!

I had experienced resentment, tears, and my escape from home.

Unfortunately, my mother was still partial.

I had imagined more than once that it would have been great if Brittany had not been born.

I had wondered if there would have been someone to love and care for me had my father still been alive.

I admitted that I was jealous of Brittany because she could get all the favors from my mother without effort.

Nonetheless, I never thought of harming her, let alone preventing her from marrying a good man.

Instead, I always remembered she was my sister, so I advised her to end things with Yohan.

If it had been someone else, I wouldn't have made any suggestions.

I was not that free to interfere with others' business.

Unexpectedly, despite the clear evidence, my mother perceived my good intentions as evil.

I used to expect that one day, she would stop being partial.

To my disappointment, what awaited me was her final acknowledgment of her partiality.

I finally gave up.

I didn't stay at home for dinner. Before leaving, I said to my mother, "Don't worry. I would rather die than fall in love with Yohan!"

She ignored me.

Brittany said sweetly, "Amelia, rest assured. Yohan is a good man, and we will definitely be happy."

I walked away without hesitation.

For a long time afterward, I didn't contact my mother and Brittany, and they didn't contact me either.

It wasn't until Mother's Day that my mother suddenly sent me a message, inviting me to dinner at home. The tension between us gradually eased.

Brittany resumed chatting with me on WhatsApp, but all she talked about was what had happened between her and Yohan.

I had learned my lesson. Instead of persuading her to break up with him, I poured cold water on her.

For example, I forwarded her an article about a man cheating.

Besides, a few days ago, Brittany asked with a distressed look on her face, "Amelia, Yohan proposed to me, but I haven't made up my mind yet. Do you think I should agree?"

I replied, "Marriage is a woman's grave."

Brittany was so angry that she didn't get in touch with me for two days.

Later, she asked, "Amelia, Yohan and I haven't had sex for two months. Every time I tried, he refused me under the pretext of being exhausted. Do you think he dislikes me?"

I said, "Every man enjoys sex unless he has his fill with another woman."

Brittany flew into a rage again. "Amelia, you can speak your mind. Why are you always so sarcastic? I already explained that you misunderstood when you saw that girl kissing him last time, but you still don't let it go!"

I quickly raised my hands to surrender. "Well, whatever you like."

Brittany left in frustration.

I didn't tell her that I'd actually caught Yohan being intimate with other girls on multiple occasions, including seeing him hug another girl at a hotel.

But I was unwilling to be that troublemaker again.

As Brittany's sister, I could only dishearten her when she was overwhelmed by love.

Unfortunately, my efforts did not lead to any change.

Brittany decided to marry Yohan.

3

As Brittany and Yohan's wedding drew near, my mother repeatedly warned me, fearing that I might ruin Brittany's marriage, "Don't stir up trouble, or there will be consequences!"

Obviously, my mother was very wary of me, afraid that I would cause trouble.

She always assumed that I was going to snatch Yohan from Brittany.

After all, in her opinion, he had good looks, hailed from a wealthy family background, and held a stable job in the government.

Every woman desired such an ideal man.

My mother firmly believed that I secretly coveted Yohan.

So she kept her guard up around me, cautioned me, and always eyed me with a vigilant gaze.

To ensure Brittany could marry Yohan without hindrance, my mother once showed generosity by giving me 20 thousand dollars. She asked me to travel to other provinces and avoid attending Brittany's wedding.

I accepted the money readily and promised not to ruin her wedding.

My mother didn't trust me. "Swear, if you dare to destroy Brittany's wedding, your doom will be miserable!"

Did this sound like something a mother would say to her daughter?

Some might think I was her enemy.

At times, I really doubted if I was not her biological child.

Unfortunately, we were really mother and daughter by blood.

Three years ago, I secretly took my mother's hair for a paternity test.

The results confirmed that she and I were mother and daughter.

I had grown numb to her favoritism and indifference. I raised my hand and swore vehemently on the spot, uttering all sorts of bitter words like, "I wish I'd be struck by lightning, die a wretched death, or be treated like a pig or a dog," and so on. Only then did she relent.

Despite promising her that I wouldn't attend Brittany's wedding, I still went to see her before leaving for my trip.

This time, I didn't pour cold water on her but just advised, "You should think twice about your marriage with Yohan."

Brittany, immersed in the joy of the upcoming wedding, would not listen to me.

"Amelia, you are so annoying. To tell you the truth, I had someone secretly inquire about Yohan at his company. His colleagues have a high opinion of him, saying that they've never seen him being intimate with any girl."

I thought I must have seen a ghost.

Brittany couldn't resist boasting once more, "Yohan is truly an excellent marriage partner. He's ambitious and responsible, and he behaves himself. Aside from his frequent overtime, which keeps him away, I'm quite satisfied with him in every other way."

With that, she looked at me with expectant eyes, waiting for me to envy her.

However, I only felt disgust toward Yohan. "Remember, he's divorced. Divorced men are as worthless as unwanted second-hand goods."

Brittany was annoyed. "Amelia, why do you always slander Yohan? So what if he's divorced? It's not his fault. He told me that he split up with his ex-wife because she cheated on him."

She actually bought this story.

I was speechless.

How ironic!

When my mother asked a matchmaker to set me up on a blind date, I overheard her telling the matchmaker, "You don't need to find an exceptional man. It doesn't matter if he's been divorced."

So, the matchmaker introduced Yohan to me.

Surprisingly, Brittany fell in love with him and asked me for his contact information.

They chatted enthusiastically on WhatsApp. By the time I found out, they had already been in a relationship.

At first, my mom was enraged.

How could her dear daughter be with a divorced man?

Later on, she came to realize that Yohan was genuinely a good man who often bought gifts for her, which made her like him more and more.

I asked, "Do you really believe his story? Maybe he cheated on her, so his ex-wife asked for a divorce."

Brittany was furious.

She scoffed, "Amelia, how can you make such malicious assumptions about him? Even if you don't admit it, I know that he didn't like you during the blind date, so you hold a grudge against me and wish I would break up with him!"

Staring at her serious face, I was at a loss for words.

Good advice could never stop a stubborn person.

I had done my best as a sister.

So, I warned, "Don't regret it."

Brittany snorted coldly, "I won't. Amelia, just wait and see. Yohan and I will live happily. Don't be jealous of me then."

I sneered inwardly, what an Idiot!

Since you insisted on choosing such a terrible man, be prepared to suffer the consequences, and don't ask me for help later!

4

The next day, on my way to the airport, I saw Brittany's post on Instagram.

[I wish I could get Amelia's blessing at my wedding, but sadly, she only has resentment toward me.]

My mother commented: [My dear daughter, don't care about others' opinions. You are getting married today, and I give you all my blessings.]

I laughed at myself.

It turned out that in my mother's eyes, I was like a stranger.

Without hesitation, I blacklisted my mother and Brittany on Instagram and WhatsApp.
